Bob's Barbershop Boys

Formed in 2009 by Bob Gabe from members of the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir, what was intended to be a Barbershop Quartet soon grew to become a group of between 12 and 21 members.

Since then the Boys have performed regularly for a variety of local organisations, local authority-run events and charities, including performing at Chelmsford Cathedral as guests of The Federation of Essex Women’s Institutes. The Boys have also won classes at the Southend Music Festival and are often to be seen performing at Care Homes - where it is sometimes the case that some of the Boys are older than the residents!

As well as singing locally the Boys have toured abroad, including a successful three-venue trip to Spain.

Led by the group's musical director, Margaret Gabe, the Boys now sing a wide range of A cappella songs ranging from the original Barbershop genre to the Beach Boys and Billy Joel. Margaret's previous experience as a primary school teacher has undoubtedly been useful in keeping the Boys in order!
